Elegant aging isn't just for women: Botox and filler for men at Astra

Astra was founded on a simple idea. Everyone deserves to age on their own terms. In practice, that means aesthetic treatment should be individualized to the patient rather than built around a traditionally male or female treatment plan. Men increasingly make up part of Molly’s practice, and their goals, anatomy, and desired outcomes can differ considerably from one patient to the next.

Key takeaways

  • Everyone deserves to age on their own terms.
  • Treatment is individualized to the patient rather than built around a traditionally male or female treatment plan.
  • For men, neuromodulator treatment is frequently about softening lines without erasing expression entirely.
  • Filler may be used strategically to support facial proportions, including the jawline, the chin, or the midface when appropriate.
  • Gender alone doesn’t determine a dose.

Why are more men interested in aesthetic treatment?

“I’ve seen more men become interested in aesthetic treatment as the conversation has shifted away from looking ‘done’ and toward looking rested, healthy, and like yourself,” Molly says. “Most aren’t coming in asking for a dramatic change. They usually have one or two specific things they’ve noticed and want to know whether there is a subtle way to address them.”

How are neuromodulators and filler used for men?

For men, neuromodulator treatment is frequently about softening forehead lines or the lines between the brows without erasing expression entirely, while preserving the movement and facial characteristics the patient wants to keep. Filler, when it’s used, may be used strategically to support facial proportions, including definition through the jawline, projection of the chin, or support through the midface when appropriate. The goal isn’t volume for its own sake. It is to work with the patient’s existing anatomy and the result they want to achieve.

Do men need a different dose?

Dosing also has to be individualized. Some male patients have greater muscle mass or stronger facial movement and may require different neuromodulator dosing, but gender alone doesn’t determine a dose. Molly assesses muscle strength, anatomy, movement, treatment history, and desired result before determining where and how much to treat.

What if I don’t want anyone to know?

“A common hesitation is that they don’t want anyone to know they’ve had something done,” Molly says. “That’s exactly why the consultation matters. The goal isn’t to give every male patient the same jawline, forehead, or aesthetic. It’s to determine whether treatment can address the concern while still looking completely consistent with the person sitting in front of me.”

Is this really for men?

If you’ve been curious but assumed this wasn’t really “for you,” it is. A consultation is simply a chance to discuss what bothers you, what you don’t want to change, and what a treatment plan based on your actual anatomy might look like.
